Hi John, thanks for your questions! It seems that every tuning has its hidden strengths and special capabilities. Have you made any discoveries about the new tuning that you didn't anticipate? Since this new instrument is so similar conceptually to what I’ve been using for a while, I don’t think I’v...

Here's a quick intro I recorded today on my iPhone, for anyone interested in seeing the instrument and tuning:

I'm hoping to put together a video sometime about this instrument, but in short I really love this tuning configuration and the 7 bass strings is very useful - it's hard going back to 6 bass strings now! Big wide chords that cross 6 strings can now be started on either of the two lowest bass strings...

Hi John, thanks for your interest, here is a post I made about it earlier this year with photos: https://www.stickist.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15549 It's been a hectic year without a lot of time for music but I really would like to make a video soon to demonstrate the instrument and the things I ...

Thanks very much Greg - I removed the Stickup as you suggested, and didn't notice anything amiss inside. I blew a bit of air into the output jack and tested it again with the pickup removed and suddenly everything was working again, so perhaps whatever was making a connection between the sides came ...

Hi all, been getting in some more time on my recent 5+7 Grand Stick and discovered a strange issue, it may have started happening recently. I notice if I shut off one channel of the Stickup (either with volume knob or at preamp), I still get that side of the instrument at about half the volume throu...

For a long time I felt that reverbs were a weak spot on the Line 6 devices but it’s improved in the last couple years - there was a big update with the Glitz, Ganymede, etc models and most recently Dynamic Hall which is pretty good. If possible you can download a demo of Helix Native on a computer a...

Welcome! I grew up in the Boston area and visited Rhode Island regularly to visit family. I also love to hear older instruments like the lute and theorbo (just went to a festival here in Scotland that featured a solo theorbo player, quite amazing!) I don't know that Railboards are necessarily easier...

Yup, white fretboard/violin tape works great. Been using it on my padauk Grand with black linear inlays for about 15 years, after I started performing and quickly realized the inlays almost disappear under certain lighting. I think Jim Reilly, who was working for SE at the time I ordered the instrum...

More of an outlier option, but I've been using mirrored 4ths for the last 17 years, starting on low bass E. It really needs 12 strings to get the most out of it (6 or 7 bass strings) so you have enough pitch range for chords on the bass side that don't sound muddy. The bass side covers bass guitar p...
