Forgot to mention that all of these ideas need to be tested. Anyway, here's the chart I promised. You've seen my charts of motives before but this one is fairly definitive I think if you're going for patterns which avoid known structures. On the Javier website concerning Coltrane's 3 Tonic system, h... |

All of the following is based on the ACT Creativity Method mentioned in the other thread. I'm interested in other people's ideas in how to accomplish these objectives not just my own. I know it might be a lot to read through and in the end you might be too tired to post but I hope you make it throug... |

Hi Tim, Hi Rodan, that Joni Mitchell and Jaco collaboration was some of the best "pop" music ever. The potential in a music that melodic never materialized though because we moved on to techno and rap. Bring a melodic pop back like Joni and James Taylor but not reject the techno/rap and de... |

Don't it though? Criticizing the ideas but not the person leads to higher quality ideas. Another thing on a different website [but this guy also talks about it] is that although you don't want a lot of low quality ideas in the beginning that you won't take action on, after you've taken action go ahe... |

He's basically saying save yourself a lot of time and practice by only having to learn 4 augmented scales for normal jazz in any key you want to play in; I, bIII, bV and VI or C aug scale, Eb aug scale, Gb aug scale, and A aug scale for a region in C Major each having various levels of dissonance. A... |

Here's the beginning of what Baumgartner says about how his ACT method and Brainstorming are different and why ACT is better. It doesn't say so below but he also gave a TED talk. I developed Anticonventional thinking (ACT) in 2010 as a response to traditional brainstorming, a technique that has been... |

That wasn't me. That was a book publishing the results of the 2OO2 world symposium of the the International Society for Cross Cultural Psychology. Each chapter being written by a respected psychologist. I lean towards the findings of the PhDs in psychology from all over the world. |

These comments were somewhat in regard to the use of electronics in jazz but I thought they were instructive regardless. With much of jazz still under the shadow of 1950s hard bop, Shipp believes these changes toward a broader sound spectrum have come not a moment too soon. "I think jazz has be... |
