Nobody has ever asked this question and now I'm intrigued. I don't know the logistics of installing one so I have no idea if there are any technical reasons why it can't be done. Upon first thouht, it doesn't seem like it would provide much flexibility just because the Stick has no open strings. But... |

I think the technique vs soul argument has merit but I also think it is separate from the point I was trying to convey here. Certainly there are incredibly soulful improvising musicians and I think Holdsworth is one of them. My point here was merely to point out that I generally love the "song ... |

Hi all, An internet acquaintance of mine who is a guitar guy is looking to sell his Rane AP13. This is the SP 13 without the modifications done for Stick. As is they still make great Stick preamps as many here can attest. His unit is in excellent condition. It was only used in the studio. He is look... |

Nice video on the guitar. I enjoyed that quite a bit.
You might check out some Guillermo Cides videos on YouTube as well. He never ceases to amaze me with his music and his fire. I just found the one below today.

Clips like this make me realize that I am primarily a fan of composition and song. As much as I admire a lot of improvising musicians (Holdsworth being one of them), these kinds of clips really don't do anything for me at all. |

Just a quick update. The guitar festival was fantastic this year. There were 60+ guitarists attending this year's event and the weather couldn't have been more agreeable (sunny skies and temps in the high 70s). I played outdoors through lunch on Friday and then setup shop with a 12-string, a 10-stri... |

For what it's worth, I've had tremendous luck using orange oil and steel wool. I know! You saw the words steel wool and made the same face as I did the first time someone told me the same thing. I picked this tip up from a local guitar shop that used to use it to clean up used instruments and make t... |

Hi Emmett.
Motors! That's something I always forget about and really need to go back to. I could never really "roll" them the way you do. Time to pull out the FH book and get these back into my muscle memory. |

Certainly the left hand continues to perplex. Not so much technique-wise but more idea-wise. I tend to fall back into tried and proven patterns as well.
I think the band tends to help with that though as it can free up the other hand to work in a lot of two-handed bass grooves. |

This is the nature of discourse on the modern day internet. Being an aging technology guy, I worked with usenet and other early forms of communication before there was a www. Back then and even in the early www, the level of discourse was amazing. Then "Black Sunday" happened. That's what ... |
