Like Brett, the 2004 Charlottesville seminar was a pivotal event for me- I had just moved to Virginia earlier that year, and was trying to figure out if the Stick was something I wanted to start seriously pursuing as a solo instrument. Greg was very welcoming to us- I remember meeting up with him be...

I used Melodyne to clean up a few bum notes in the live recording that became my Full Circle album - it was amazing how effortlessly it could accomplish this much of the time (doesn't work in every case)- simply drag a note to a new pitch or increase the volume of a bass note for example. For years ...

Cool idea! The Cars were one of my first favorite groups as a kid, and I appreciated them even more later in life. Candy-o is my favorite. Elliot Easton had a knack for brilliant little guitar solos.

Interesting thought process here, maximizing the pitch range while maintaining some inlay relationships. Every once in a while I miss that deep B or C bass string from my first time playing the Stick. As my repertoire developed over the years I gravitated more towards the higher end of the bass rang...

One other thing - I just remembered that when the HX Stomp is connected to my MacBook Pro via USB cable, it can introduce noise if I use a USB hub rather than connect directly to a USB slot on the Mac, or my audio equipment is not all plugged into the same power outlet (i.e. possible ground loop).

I use the Stomp as the audio interface. I’ve actually been reading that others run it off a power bank rather than plugging it in due to the cable causing problems like this. I just thought maybe the fan was the cause after your comment. My MacBook Air is the last Intel batch in 2020. Got it. Even ...

I have a 2020 MacBook Air that I only use for HX Edit because I could never get MainStage to sound good because of what I attributed to a ground hum. I suppose I now start saving for a new MacBook Pro. A ground hum would be a different kind of issue I think than fan noise - do you have the Intel or...

There was a short thread on this last year: https://www.stickist.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15819&hilit=cortex It looks like a powerful device, seemingly with more state of the art technology than the Helix platform (which at this point is about 7 years old) and the two high impedance inputs/fl...

Thanks for the mention! Happy to have provided a bit of inspiration. I recommend adding the word "Toronto" to the title of your post as it might help others notice it more - I think there are some Stick players in the area? Hope it works out! https://www.stickist.com/search.php?keywords=to...
