I have been playing Stick between 3 and 4 years, with a slow practice pace. I felt the time to post was when about 3 separate ideas melted together to work. I cannot say I was drawing from any other musician's influence in particular. Although generally I listen to prog, symphonic metal, and radio ... |

That crack was not aimed at you, Jayesskerr. I've been trying to drum up interest in this stuff here for many years now, with little success. Mad Monk. I'm interested. I practice and study like a demon. Really, really serious about my music path... I think that I took your post the wrong way is all... |

You know, every now and then I watch your vids Greg, and I am always floored by your ability to play and write. Every aspect of your music is 'under control' and you definitely have your own way of doing things. I bet you work hard, practice a lot, and are brutally honest with yourself, even now at ... |

Thank you Randy, and Gene, for your kind words. Nothing I've said should be controversial. "Music Theory" is as standardized as the study of engineering. Schools do generally require that the student take piano concurrently, or test out. Otherwise, how is one to hear the musical examples?... |

I have played guitar and violin since I was five, and am a music school grad. Lots of gigs, and I know a thing or two about theory myself. Lesse, since I am 43 that means I have been doing music for... Oh wait, I have only been playing Stick for a year. Previous experience doesn't count, I forgot. O... |

I respectfully disagree with the original poster's post, so I gotta express my thoughts. Hopefully no one gets offended by my beliefs.... The instrument is just a tool, theory is an explanation for the methods used to create and interpret music, which is a language of expression not limited to any o... |

Cool video, definitely an idea or two or three in there! The poem looks pretty deep, heavy stuff. All about the music for me... I am curious about a few things; how long have you been playing the Stick, and how long did it take you to get this bit of music to a point where you felt like it was 'read... |
