This evening I put on a new set of strings, and took the opportunity to give my Railboard a thorough cleaning (including taking the back covers off the pickup housing to spray the guts with contact cleaner). SE was kind enough to send along a dampener strip along with my string order (a full strip, ...

I would echo this sentiment. A thousand times over I might add as this type of instrument demands no less. ... Luc, you really said out loud in this post what I have felt for a long time, which is, swing away and don't hold back . I used to find myself apologizing after performances because I felt ...

That's a cool idea; makes for a cleaner appearance than a sweatband or a sock tied around the instrument, for sure. I'm not looking for a total wrap for both sides, though, just some extra damping on the melody side. (I need access to that low C!) I've looked on the SE site and went to the Artist ga...

Some players add some extra felt to further dampen strings; I see this most frequently on the melody side. (I noticed at the Stick Men show a couple weeks ago that Tony Levin has a small strip on his, as well as a scrunchi over both sides; see photo.) Do you do this? If so, where do you place your e...

Seems I've missed a lot since the days I was really active on this forum. I'm a bit broken-hearted to learn that the Villex pickups aren't available on Railboards anymore; I'm absolutely in love with mine and I would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone. So...does anyone have any comparison ...

That must be something relatively new, as my Railboard and all the first 2 or 3 generations had serial numbers on the headstock.

*slightly off topic - but the picture of the bridge in that listing is quite intriguing, in that I'm surprised the individual bridge pieces are not uniform side by side and up against one another - but are angled somewhat - and have a space in the center... is that the design of the Railboard ?? So...
