I've been a drummer for over 32 years now, and nine years ago, I had a bad bout with tendonitis. Two things saved my playing career: a good chiropractor who used a technique called "neuro-muscular re-education" on my arms and hands, and a DVD by famed drummer Steve Smith (Journey, Vital In... |

E.C.'s initial post answers the fret question. sounds like an eloquent solution to any issues. i can't wait. :) Oops, missed it...this thread has 7 pages (so far) and I saw the first 2 and the last 2, and hadn't read the middle pages yet. Thanks for the direction! I need to show this to my brother;... |

This is extemely interesting! As always with Emmet, pure genius at work. I own two basses with an aluminum body: one would think that the sound should be hard and metallic, but the opposite is true. The sound is warm and round, with loads of sustain. Aluminum is also extremly durable and very eco-f... |

Nicely done. Going completely through the Deluxe definitely helps to relieve the tune of any excess "weight" and keeps its overall flavor airy, happy, and light. Also less obvious but no less important: the "internal dynamics"; i.e., your instrument is balanced at the source, rat... |

I had emailed Cambria at S.E. about this as well, and she forwarded my email to Emmett himself, who graciously sent a reply last night, telling me about the "push" nature of the rod. As I was starting to work on it, I started to feel really silly. Here's what I just sent back to him this m... |

Well, shoot; I tried to adjust the truss rod to give the strings a tad more clearance, but the nut ran out of pressure after 2 turns. In other words, after two small turns of the wrench, I was able to spin the nut with my fingers. The neck is still flat, so I guess that's good news. Plan, B, anyone?... |
The truss is meant to be adjusted frequently, as needed. ... It's not at all like the truss on a guitar or bass.
Ooohhhh, very cool! That's very good to know. Thanks again! |

You know, I was wondering if I should be tuning the melody strings around fret 12, because of the reason you mention: my right hand will be spending a lot of time there. I'll definitely take your suggestion about tuning around fret 4 & 5 for the bass side, too. When I tune, I have the instrument... |
