When I recently ordered my first Stick I read about the different tunings on the web site and imagined how they would let me use my both hands when playing basic improvisations with bass/chords and melody lines. This led me to the decision to order my Stick with Matched Reciprocal tuning. I've been ...

Instead of discussing sound I'd like to post this clip of playing my grand with the cello bow: http://www.looproom.com/audio/stick_cello_bow.mp3 I doubt this sound would be possible with an e-bow. By the way, I am actually having problems using my e-bow with my PASV4 Stick. It just can't make the St...

I have to ask, is it really worth all the struggle

YES!

The sound of a bow is essentially different from the sound of an e-bow. And BTW a cello bow is not much "struggle" since it fits into the Stick case :-)

I use a cello bow. Bought it for guitar a couple of years ago on someones recommendation. I'm thinking though that with the Stick it might be better with a lighter bow, like a violin bow, when bowing the thinnest strings. Only the bass string and the two outer thin strings are reachable with a bow o...

This arrangement and the sonic blend of the two different sticks sounds excellent! Matt, what would you say are the differences between the alto stick and the SG12? I see some folks still buying altos - is that because they want ten strings with the better fingering space or are there other reasons?...

I decided to try to adapt something like this using both hands on the melody side of my 10 string Stick. It wasn't long until the pattern clicked. I was using a 5 string sweep pattern adapted from guitar. Once I get it up to speed, I might post a video if there's any interest. Yes, that would be fu...

@leadbass, What do you mean? Sweeping is a pick technique where you do not alternate downwards and upwards picking but rather sweep the hand quite far up or down while letting the pick touch each string as it passes. The Stick is a fretboard tapping instrument... do you imply playing it with a pick?...

Here is the method I prefer: Use the plug-in version of GR and open two instances of it in a host application. Plug you melody and bass side into two audio inputs and target them appropriately as inputs for the two mono (that may turn stereo by effect processing) channels in the host application. I ...

Exciting news. Congratulations to you! Myself I've been drooling over the SG12 for a while and would be interested in hearing what made you chose the alto before the SG12?
