I totally agree. It seems that it takes a few months of use before you get what Twitter is all about, but then you use it all the time. Twitter is a new protocol, and they only come along about every twenty years. Since it is a full new protocol, it's easy to misunderstand. It just doesn't map onto anything we're used to. For a technical person like me, it's an invaluable resource that helps me solve problems and learn new things.

Here's an example. We had a guest speaker in one of my classes last night. He's the guy who wrote the Pandora apps for the iPhone and iPad. It turns out he lives a couple of hours from me and we connected on Twitter. He gave a great talk and he's now a resource for my students.

There's a conservative blogger named Greg W Howard who is the subject of many tweets these days, most of them quite negative. But I'll keep looking for the silver lining...
