mp3 player not working? NOW WORKING
Hi Everyone,
can one of you tech savvy people explain to me why the mp3 player (here and elsewhere is not working for me. Do I need to update something, or has the code changed yet again?

Do you mean on your Mac? Did you install Lion, OS X 10.7? Flash no longers comes built into OS X. I believe the mp3 player here on stickist.com is flash based and won't play in Safari. As an experiment try using the Google Chrome browser, it has flash built into it. If it works there then this is the problem. You can still install flash if you want by downloading it from Adobe. The other answer would be for Manny to install an HTML 5 music player that is not based on flash. I'd sure appreciate that as I won't install flash ever again.

If you are running OS X Lion on your Mac, and have previously installed Adobe Flash player, there have been known security issues with previous versions of Flash. Adobe has issued updates which address these issues.
The latest version of Apple's Safari web browser will detect which version of Flash is installed on your system, and will automatically disable it if the Flash is of a vulnerable vintage.
Google (or Bing, Yahoo) "get flash" (minus the quotes, of course); the first link offered should be the official Adobe Flash download page.
I have installed the Click-to-Flash extension in the Safari browser on my Macs. Most of the Flash media I encounter every day is just annoying advertisements; it all sucks up bandwidth and processor cycles. If there is an item on a website that I wish to see or listen to, I simply click on that object, and Flash will activate for only that object.
I do notice that SoundCloud media will not load if Click-to-Flash is active. I go to Safari Preferences/Extensions, and temporarily disable Click-to-Flash, then reload the SoundCloud page.
Take care,
Paul

I think Greg means the "Google MP3 Player" that we are using in this forum when we want to post an audio clip and get that nice little graphic player. I too have noticed it doesn't work now, but I have no clue why.
Here's an example: Below I'm typing an MP3 player:

Interesting! Using Safari on my Mac gives me this. (screenshot)

The "Missing Plug-in" means that it is indeed a Flash-based player. However, using Google Chrome, which has Flash built-in, give this.

This does seem to indicate that there is something wrong somewhere. If Chrome can't use a Google plug-in that's just weird.

OK, Google did break their Google player, but I implemented a workaround with JMP3 player, though still keeping the original gmp3 heading to keep the previous MP3 embeds working.

Well done and thanks a lot, Manny! I can see that the JMP3 player is now displayed and working. Very nice. It's so fun to listen directly where you're reading.
