Well, folks, life is a funny thing. Working my way into a drum teaching position at a local music school has led me into playing Stick with a band and for a concert -hopefully. I have no drum students yet at this school (that's a long and frustrating story), but one of the owners, in trying to get me some work to do there, asked if I'd help facilitate one of their ensembles (as the student drummer is only 8). I found out that this ensemble has no bass player, so I'm taking it upon myself, in the spirit of being as helpful as possible in any way I can, to be the bass player via Stick. (Fortunately, this is a pop ensemble and the songs are ridiculously simple and repetitive.) This ensemble is going to have a concert on December 11; the audience should consist mostly of some faculty and some parents. It will be very small, as there are only 3 students in this group. I used the word "hopefully" earlier because I mentioned it to the powers that be and there has been no reaction yet, but the owner I mentioned before had asked about Stick and the future possibility of teaching it there, so I'm sure the reception is going to be fine. Keep your fingers crossed! |

Righteous. I have seen you play stick, and you will do just fine. I am optimistic enough to not cross my fingers, but I will keep you in my thoughts. Always cool when good ol' Luc pops in to let us know he's still kickin' it. Hope you and Jen are doing well. Kev |
