Les, Steve, and Tommy Jan. 12
So after a successful night with Les, I've been invited back to sit in next Monday. Jan. 12. I've been told another special guest for that night will be the spectacular guitarist Tommy Emmanual. Hopefully we can do a trio. That will be fun indeed. If you're in town check it out Iridium Jazz Club 51 and B'wy

Hi Steve,
I hope you can get some pics of you with Les Paul, something to show your grandkids (and all of us, too)

Re: Les, Steve, and Tommy Jan. 12
What a fun night. Les was smokin' and the room was celebratory. We did a long set because there were so many guests artists. After Les did his usual 3-4 trio tunes and 1,000 funny stories, he invited up violinist Christian Howes, then Andrew the tap dancer. Then came my turn and I got a good dose of Les' sarcasm but with all kind intentions. He's still got all his wits at 93. After my musical contribution, Les brought Tommy Emmanuel on stage and he was just incredible. Great guitarist and entertainer. Check him out if you don't know him. He'll be getting a lifetime achievement award from GP at The All Star Guitar Night at NAMM this weekend. There was sax player Tommy later and a stage visit from Jackie The Joke Man who was hysterical. The room was just joyous throughout. Not your typical "jazz room" Later in the dressing room I listened to Les tell stories about Merle Travis, Chet Atkins and most thrilling of all, Django Reinhardt. These tales alone were worth the trip. There's Les with the history of guitar pouring from his lips. Incredible stuff. In the immortal words of someone, "I'll be back". Steve A (pics on the way)
