After years of procrastination, I've finally managed to record a Christmas album. It will be available Dec 1, in physical form from me and SE, and also as a download via bandcamp.

The Holly and the Ivy, Classic Christmas Selections, is 13 duets with a great flutist named Angela Kelly. The Instruments have a great affinity for each other, (I think), and I hope you will too.

Sample tracks to follow soon...

I love flute. And I'm sure it sounds awesome with your Sticking! Let us know when it's out.

BTW, "Christmas" in the title. (This comment will not make any sense after it's fixed. I would have PM'd but...) ;)

Thanks for the heads up about the title! It will probably be out early on Bandcamp. I'll let you know ;)

Hi everyone,

We won't have physical CDs until Dec 1, but for those of you who would like to download the album, you can get it from bandcamp:

https://greghoward.bandcamp.com/album/t ... selections

You can also listen to all of the tracks there for free.

Enjoy!

Wow, Greg, some beautiful arrangements. I love 4, 6, 7, and 9. Did you use various Sticks or just the Grand on the cover?

Hi John,

Thanks for checking it out. Just used the Grand on the cover, with quite new strings and a consistent pre-amp setting on the StepABout throughout. So the different timbres are region and technique-based. I wanted to get an "acoustic" sound to mesh with the flute.

I did try a little experiment on the "Ukrainian Carol", of doubling the tapped bass notes with plucked bass notes. It created a really interesting presence, and balanced out the chordal part of the left hand a little better. The high bass 4th in the left hand chords is also a big part of the sound on that track.

Some of the melody was played really aggressively, and much extremely delicately. This instrument changes timbre as well as volume when you really lay into it.

Is it feasible to publish a Christmas songbook for the stick, using staffTab?
