It's going to be a great year for Stick players.

Earlier this year, Stick Enterprises released the 8-string Railboard, a redux of the classic 8-string Stick Bass, but complete with all the amenities of a Railboard (R-block, 4-way truss, etc.).

Stick Enterprises is poised to release the 12 string Railboard this year. I've seen it, I've played it and it is a thing of beauty. Emmett mentioned that there were still some tweaks to be made, the details of which I will not bore you with, but know that it will be worth the wait.

2017 had fantastic events, and in 2018, they are going to continue! Jim Meyer's Stick Camp returns to Vancouver in a big way - a 5-day baller of an event with the world's longest running Stick event. Guillermo Cides is currently slated to join the event - a rare and unique opportunity to learn from a Master Stickist!

We saw a significant upgrade in the stick.com website, which included automation of ordering strings and accessories including Michael Johnstone's Lapdawg.

There's new Greg Howard material, The Holly and the Ivy. Outstanding pairing of instruments performed by best of class musicians - a sweet production and musical ear candy for the entire holiday season.

A new shipment of TAGG interfaces should be ready in mid February. There are a few names already on the wait list - if you want one, be sure to watch for upcoming FHF sessions for details.

New videos from film-maker and brother extraordinaire, Dan Chapman, including some superb footage from 1973 with Les Demerle and Emmett absolutely crushing.

Lastly, and perhaps what I am look forward to most is, the hearty serving of new content that is being served up by community members both new and old. Seeing new players take up the call with renewed vigor and effort including bigger and badder gig reports, more detailed gear updates and some outstanding new self help videos.

I'll be out of the gate this year with a host of FHF sessions on learning to play Bach. With a little help from the Bach club (Claire and Vic), I hope you'll join us in knocking down a few hours of structured study time to learn some short and sweet musical delights.

It's time to nut up or shut up in 2018 Stick friends...

Best Community ever.

Tappy Happy New Year!

I'm excited for 2018.
There is a lot of question marks for me in the coming months but I'm excited to see what plays out and the challenges they will bring.
