Re: Interlochen 2019 - Registration is now LIVE!
Well I'm excited to throw my hat into the ring. I'm registered and ready!
We're making an epic family vacation out of this as my wife and I are bringing our three kids and meeting up with my mother & step-dad from Texas. I'm sure they'll come attend any public performances that comes from this group.
Some of you guys (Steve Adelson, Glenn Poorman) I've known online for at least 20 years, from the old Stickwire days. Many others I've gotten to know here and on facebook. Looking forward to finally meeting you all, and catching up with Greg again...and meeting Emmett for only the second time.

Re: Interlochen 2019 - Registration is now LIVE!
I’m in. This year I will not need lodging. Glenn is one of the few I’ve mentioned this to, as he’s been a big help to me, as my wife and I are relocating to Traverse City. My plant is closing, and relocating into our other facility in TC. Ironically, for those of you that attended the first Stick Seminar would remember the former director Matt Wiliford - he works on the other side of the parking lot from our TC plant, so I expect I’ll see more of him once we are up there. This has been a bit hush hush as until this week our customers were not aware of it. Most of my close friends do not know of this, but I asked Glenn for help hooking me up with a realtor.
Thanks to both Stick and guitar seminars, combined with the Iceman MTB Race, as well as having a sister plant in TC, I’m typically up there at least twice a year. Was really a huge help in deciding whether to stay with my company of twenty five years, or just quit and do something else.
Just hoping things don’t get real crazy with a plant move at work. I’m only one of a small few willing to relocate. There’s a small potential I might not be able to attend all the days, and my cell phone may end up buzzing me constantly. Only time will tell.
This adds to another chapter where Stick players have benefitted me in other ways. In 2010 Konrad, Justin, and some additional help from Andy Salvanos helped me hook up with some long lost relatives in Australia via the seminar with Bob. Since then that trip has had huge impacts on other people I met there, too many to post here. Don’t ever look at a Stick Seminar as just being something to help you learn to play the Stick, there’s an enormous amount of side benefits, some not always musically related.

Re: Interlochen 2019 - Registration is now LIVE!
Traverse City is fantastic! I'd be there 365 days a year if I could (and I will at some point). About the only thing I'd warn you about is trying to go anywhere near the Bay during Cherry Festival . You learn to work around it though. Just like the folks in Ann Arbor during the Art Fair. It's funny. My wife and I were in Alberta last week and we had a very similar discussion whilst sitting down to a nice meal with Jim Reilly and his lovely wife. Basically the talk revolved around how sometimes the smallest decisions or turns you make can have dramatic changes on your life. At that point I looked across the table and told Jim ... "if either of us hadn't started playing Stick, we wouldn't even be sitting here now". Without going into detail, my story with the Stick likely would have never started if it hadn't been for the engine in my wife's car blowing requiring replacement of the whole vehicle.

Signed up!! Except this time I'm staying in Traverse City. Booked a nice room with a pool and hot tub. I did the rustic cabin last time and this time I'm gonna go the cushy route.
Everything on campus with A/C is booked up right now... just fyi.
Website showed a couple rustic cabins open for July 10-13th...but nothing else. I called and confirmed that is the case.
See you all in the summer!
Thanks

Re: Interlochen 2019 - Registration is now LIVE!
I signed up today. I just bought my first stick last week; expect a lot of questions... !
The "Supplies" tab at the Interlochen site for the workshop says to bring an amp. I have an Ampeg BA-108 20 watt amp. Should I bring that? Should I bring a battery-powered practice amp? Both?
If the advice is to bring a battery-powered amp, what do you recommend?
Thanks!

One small amp is fine. It's just so you can hear yourself play during sessions.

What Steve said.
But I should also point out that as the event draws near, I will start sending out email communications to everyone who is signed up going into more detail about these sorts of things.
