Okay. DAMN. What an interview. Thank you Steve (see what a move can bring...hiking routes?) But Michael. I never knew. I had to pull out Free Hands (it came with my Ironwood) (pg.58) to see his picture...HE HAS STUDIED WITH EMMETT. Wow. Why more people don't know about this instrument and the pioneers I don't know. But, Michael...KEEP ON TRUDGING

Mike always "walks the walk". His music does the talking. Where he has chosen to live has played a major role in his music and Stick career. Very odd, but I feel it has been the "where" factor in his life that has defined his musical growth, and it's been by choice of location.

He lives it and has transformed himself into a performer, both in solo and in friendly Stick duos with other instruments. You've got Laurels, Mike, straight from Laurel Canyon and beyond, but you'll never sit on them for fear of getting the itch*.

Footnote 1 - The saying is, "Don't rest on your Laurels."
Footnote 2 - The Canyon is named after the prevalent laurel week found there, poison ivy.

Yes...I enjoyed reading up on Kollwitz. He's one of the Stick grand-daddys that I've known the least about, for some reason. Thanks Steve, for making his story more known to me.

Although, I've had folks here in Fort Qu'Appelle tell me they've seen him perform in AZ. Fact: Arizona is Saskatchewan SOUTH. Or as I say: rich Canadians winter in Florida...POOR Canadians winter in Arizona!
