Solo Album FINALLY OUT!
Hi all, I've been absent for a long time, and I apologize for that ... but I've been a busy boy. Gene Perry, you'll be proud: I finally achieved my goal that I set for myself at Free Hands in 2014 - I finished my effing album!! "Living Music" is now available both digitally and on CD (for the nostalgic among us who like artwork and credits). It's a self-produced effort that sees me on drums, some keyboards, and my black Railboard #6453. I played the Railboard as bass on most of the tunes, as well as composing and playing melodies on a few. There are some EXTREMELY special guests on this record ... I managed to get the wonderful (and one of my all-time musical heroes) Gary Husband to play keyboards on a couple of tunes, and I also got bass giant Billy Sheehan on one of them! I can't tell you how giddy I've been about their contributions; it's serious dream come true stuff.
It's all instrumental stuff, at times very cinematic, sometimes reminiscent of Jeff Beck and Steve Hackett ... sometimes ambient and calm, sometimes rockin' out like Niacin.
This wouldn't have happened without several people found in this community: Greg Howard for inspiration and lessons (I'm sorry we're so overdue for a conversation!), Steve Adelson for online - and occasional in-person - support, Bob Culbertson and Kevin Keith for being amazing, Gene Perry for the friendship, great vibes, and encouragement, and of course Tony Levin for a lifetime of inspiration.
If you'd care to have a listen, I'd be most grateful. Here's one place to find it:
The first tune that comes up, "At the Gate," is one of the two that Gary Husband plays on.
You can also find it on Bandcamp, Apple Music/iTunes, Amazon Music, Pandora, CD Baby, Shazam, Tik Tok, YouTube Music, and a whole lot of others.
Here's a link to a sampler promo video I released this afternoon:
This has been a long journey, and I'm extremely proud of what I've been able to do. Thank you to all of you for your friendship and support here over the past several years, and I'll try not to be so much of a stranger - and not let it be so long until my next release comes out!
Whoa. This is pretty rad Luc, I've been seeing the posts over the past months, but it's amazing to see and you have definitely far and away blown away all expectations set in 2014.
(Don Schiff funny accent) Good job!
Here is a blast from the past on FHF with you and Jen.

Oh good lord, I forgot all about that!! Ha! One of the nice side effects of working on this final push to get it all done was a reconnection to my Railboard. I'd been off it for a couple of years because drumming took over my music life (out of necessity). Now I've got some inspiration to develop my playing on it further - hopefully to at least catch up to where I was in 2014 before long! Thanks for the kind words, Gene, it really means a great deal.
That first track is amazing. These guys I was jamming with out near Perris were really big into Gary Husband - that guy is equally amazing on drums as he is on keys. Kind of like you and the Stick man - what an amazing Stick journey you are on Luc!!!
Hey, I queued up a pair of the light sticks in black, the drumming book and the album but I am seeing I can't pay through the site. Can I get the sticks and the drumming essentials book on Amazon?
I've listened to your album 3 times since yesterday and I'm impressed. I hear how much heart you have been put into it. A piece of decent work in a climates close to me. Congratulations.

Great news Luc. I remember when you sat in on drums at LB Jazz Fest jam session. (7 years ago?). Perhaps next jam will be on Stick? Good luck with the project. It's life confirming when you can document your creative spirit, leaving your stamp on humanity. Glad you could get to this point.

Gene, thank you thank you!! I HAD been having problems getting my online store setup through Wix, but it looks like I've gotten it figured out. Give it another shot, and if it doesn't work, email me directly at lberger67@gmail.com with your info and items request, and we can wrap it up directly. And the sticks don't come in black, just natural hickory - something else I need to fix! Sorry about that!
