Emmett, I won't ever have words enough to thank you for creating the fantastic instrument that sits beside me as I write. Rarely does any person create an object of such power that said object in and of itself changes the very fabric of the person who wields it, very few could be considered to have created such an object, Les Paul I believe would be in that category, but if there is an exemplar of such a person, it is you Emmett. Not just through the instrument you designed and manufactured for 5 decades alone, but through your connection to the community you built, you were our teacher, our grand sage. You were the Sherpa to thousands of lost musicians, myself among them. You gave us all an incredible gift in the Stick, and the community that has grown and flourished in it's warm light, I know I will never be able to thank you enough, but that won't ever stop me from my expressing my gratitude, and remembering you and our conversations about crazy tunings anytime I pick up my 10 string. You've left an immensely positive and permanent mark on myself and so many others, the world is a far lesser place without you in it anymore. I wish you fair winds and bright skies in whatever plane you travel through now, may your spirit serenade all of reality for eternity, in peace. |

Lit a candle this morning, on All Saints Day, for Emmett - seemed appropriate. Our thoughts and prayers are with Emmett's family, and his extended family here and worldwide. |
