Tap In Time, Episode 23 - Steve Adelson
Hi everyone, and Happy New Year! We're back, this time with another interview. Many of us have spent time with Steve at seminars, gigs, or taking lessons, and we take the opportunity to get to know him a little better, and dive into his musical philosophy and his history, both with music in general and the Stick. Enjoy! https://tapintime.podbean.com/e/23-talk ... e-adelson/

That was a 3 Espressos & lots of chocolate listen. Absolutely Fantastic. I first caught up with Steve right as Hurricane Sandy crossed the coast . Quite a few years later it's been such a fabulous experience to know him, chat with him , learn from him, albeit via a computer monitor across the pacific. Thanks for the podcast , apart from his obvious and incredible musical side , in Australian English we'd say " He's a top bloke! "

Re: Tap In Time, Episode 23 - Steve Adelson
Just listened. Great episode thanks crew & Steve. I have to say for myself I do not enough practicing but a lot of exploring and Steve's book, and Emmett's Free Hands are what get opened up and reviewed the most. And in Free Hands, on pg.11, "Chordal Possibilities", Emmett says "you can also play left-handed chords on both sets of strings at once...the possibilities for chord voicings with this method are limitless." Shit. I play a 12-string DBR, that I wound up de-tuning the bass a half-step, so that the fret markers line up. What I found was the note relationship to be the same as the 10 string Classic tuning with the Melody an octave down. Wow. I tap across the board with both hands and thumbs and have to record what I do and then make diagrams of what I'm doing because the recording doesn't give me enough information. What an instrument what an inspiration what a man. Thank You Emmett Chapman and the Explorers of the Stick. You're right Steve we don't have enough years to figure it all out!

Another great episode. Loved the "What if" concepts stuff especially. The stories, & histories, etc., too of course (how Steve got his first stick was great!), but the "What if" approach was particularly inspirational.
Steve (Lee Vatip) - have you considered bandcamp as an outlet/marketplace? There are a good few Stickists on there, including Greg.

Such great discussions and always inspiring. I found that following TiT23 with viewing the recording of Bob's Zoom session from May 8 2021, which 'stared' Steve, made a great combination. https://www.stickmusic.com/live-video-streamingEdited to correct typo.
