I've seen you describe various things on Bob's Zoom calls (polychords, drumming etc.), but I don't recall that technique (I've not seen all the videos). If I'm seeing it correctly I think the very first chord you hold (around 0:19) is something like Bb F bB (on strings 8, 6 & 5)? Then you move it along a couple of frets to become (I think) C G C, then you keep the bass side C, shifting the melody fingers a string to & C F, then again to F & Bb, then back, and so on. I may have that slightly wrong, but wow, just thinking about the general concept is so inspiring (even though utterly beyond my total beginner level, for the present!). If that's in your book I've not found it yet. A thing I like about your book is the way it feels very much "here's a bunch of ideas, see what you can make of them" (I hope you don't mind that description). What a machine for music Emmett gave us. What use you make of that machine. Thank you for leading & giving us shoulders to climb on.

Close David All left hand First chord is Bb ,,, F Bb D Strings 8....6 5 4 Bass remains Bb and the triad goes up a 4th, and then again up a 4th Then the 4 notes move up 2 frets and then again 2 more frets Right hand is lightly tapping the bass over over the pickup. Then plays the melody in the bass. Then I add some right hand chords with some thumb action. More acrobatics follow Correctly, these are not in my book from 2008 My playing style and discoveries have evolved a lot in those 14 years. I appreciate your keen observations and perception of the book. The Stick's possibilities are endless. The inspiration is perpetual through daily practice and teaching Steve A |
