Registration for the 2023 Interlochen Stick Workshop is open.

The workshop will be taking place Wed-Sat, August 2-5 at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in northern Michigan. Our fearless instructors for this event will be none other than Tom Griesgraber and Don Schiff.

Earlybird tuition for the event will be $550usd.

I hope to see many of you there. It's always a great event and this year's event coincides with the last week of summer arts camp. That means if you're willing to hang out until late Sunday, you can catch the student performance of Liszt' "Les Preludes". It's the last performance of the summer arts camp and has been their traditional last piece for almost 100 years featuring both music and dance.

Hi again all!

Just a bump on this event. We've already had very good signup activity and it's barely March so I'm getting pretty psyched. I'm especially excited that we'll be having Don Schiff here for the first time (it's been a long time coming). Of course, Tom Griesgraber is always a pleasure to have and always puts on some exceptionally cool group classes.

Ran across this photo today of Michael Hedges back when he was studying both flute and classical guitar at the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. I think this was 1972.

UPDATE: So I got a confirmation from Hedges brother Brendan that he was there as a camper in 72 (when this was taken) and as a counselor from 73 to 75. He also mentioned that Hedges used to play a tune that didn't quite make the cut on his first album titled "Outside Cabin 11" in reference to the cabin he lived in during the summer of 72.
