Post FredTap II (November 7-8 2009) ... what sayeth thee?
EDIT: date suggestion Nov 7-8 added, have everything at Picker's Supply?

I'd like to gauge interest for another FredTap event in Fredericksburg, VA late in the year (say November, like last time).

A couple of ideas I had:

- Make it a two day event? I felt like time just flew by for the one day event, people perhaps didn't get much time to enjoy downtown Fredericksburg, hang out with each other, take time to really digest the instruction material, etc.

- Do the concert on a Sunday night? Also make it a "round robin" type of format as long as there is room on stage for everyone's gear to be set up. There could perhaps be a lower key Saturday event for people new to performing, for getting their feet wet with live performance.

Both the Loft and Picker's Supply have expressed interest in having us back, although the Loft may prefer us to be on a Sunday night as they tend to like a more late night, partying Saturday crowd for business purposes (we were much more low key and ended earlier than their average Saturday event).

Let me know if you have an interest in coming to historic Fredericksburg for such an event! Fredericksburg is right on I-95, thus fairly accessible from various east coast locations. There is also a lot of history in the area and places to visit. Also let me know if you have ideas on how to make it a more worthwhile experience for you.

For reference, the old website is still up:

Um, basically I just wanted more time. Maybe allotting for some private sessions to.

Also, Bill Burke's performance got me interested in looping. I don't know if there is enough interest, but if there is...well maybe there could be a looping workshop too.

Last year's event was helpful & fun for me. Well worth it.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to bump this thread and see what the current interest level is...

If we have the concert at the Loft again it likely would have to be a Sunday night. So would a Sunday workshop or making it a whole weekend event make this more or less attractive?

Hi Rob,
Either day for a concert works for me. My only concern would be that many folks would have to miss a Sunday show for travel/work reasons.

Also, I'd be happy to offer a looping session as part of the event, either one-on-one or with a group.

Best,
Bill

Indeed a Sunday night concert would be harder for me to manage. Maybe a Sunday afternoon concert? Just a thought.

Rob- Hi! Yes, I would be interested in FredTap II.

I agree with Bill. and a 6 1/2 hour drive from Pittsburgh, would kindof rule out a Sunday Night.

I thought the afternoon seminar, inhale dinner, and play the concert Saturday night was a good format.

if you could just remove that "guy" loudly talking about his divorce over Greg's set, that would be perfect! :D

junkfood for thought,
dave brosky

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will plan to keep the concert Sat. night (even if there is some interest in having some more teaching on Sunday morning perhaps?) There is the possibility of using Picker's Supply's performance space, but there is no bar if alcohol is necessary to tolerate the performances.

Actually, in January when I opened for the Songwriter's Showcase they have there once a month, it was quite a nice atmosphere, and you know people are there specifically to enjoy the music. It would also save on gear transportation efforts for performers. Younger people could also attend. Always the opportunity for drinking before and after...

"Fred Vegas" is approximately 288 miles from NYC (50 miles south of D.C)...

Also, do those of you seriously interested in attending have a weekend preference around November that you'd prefer? Picker's Supply is available but I need to decide on which weekend.

Um, any weekend except Thanksgiving? (28th-29th)

I like the idea of some extra time together on Sunday, but would need to drive to the airport & fly out in the evening, so something that ended by early afternoon would be better for me. (After all, it is all about *me* right?)

I think the Picker's Supply space would be great for the Sat night performance...less hauling, less competition w/ loud divorcees, etc.
