Post My Father
http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/knoxne ... =141043441

My dad was also my friend and next-door-neighbor. With his passing I feel a great whole in my life.

Here is what I read at his burial.

To: Dr. Frank V. Comas, March 23, 2010

To My Father

At this solemn time I cannot help but be inspired by your life. You have faced unbelievable obstacles in your life yet you thrived and seemed to succeed at most every venture you undertook. You worked tirelessly to provide for your family. Your professional life was dedicated to curing the curable, and comforting the incurable.

Many, many people have been, and will be the beneficiaries your life’s efforts. As we lay your body to rest for the final time, I know that your spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts and minds of those that knew you, and those whose lives you have touched.

I said this time was solemn, but it is also joyous. In the end you welcomed death that ended the suffering your failing body was causing you. You lived a life that was long and full, and surely you have accomplished most of your goals. In twilight of your life you were surrounded by loved ones, and living in you’re your own home, as was your desire. I am happy that I could help make that possible for you.

On your final day you told me how lucky you felt, being surrounded by love. However I cannot help but feel that truly we owed you our love, for you had given so much in so many ways. If I can earn half the love you did, I will be truly blessed.

While you could sometimes be a harsh critic, I know you always had the best intentions. You have been so generous, sometimes even way beyond what is reasonable. But you have given me two gifts which I will always cherish above all others: Your final words “I feel happy,” and claiming me as your friend. I could not be more honored.

bon viatge el meu amic

Jeff, He sounds like a great guy. I use the present tense. I don't think the people we hold close and dear are ever gone. They live inside of us for all of our days.
Peace,
Joe

Very sweet statement Jeff. As sad as the passing is, it sounds like you can also be consoled by the joy your relationship was and remains.
All the best

I have to agree with Joe, and I also believe that we will see our loved ones again,on a higher plane. May you find peace through this very difficult time.

I'm very sorry to hear about this, Jeff. I'm visiting my father this weekend and since he's 93 I should do this more often. I wish he lived closer and I think we'll have to come back here this summer.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family Jeff. I walked this path many years ago. It will take some time to heal, but your Dad will always be with you. You have been blessed to have him as your father. Tony D.

In the end, we always come back to our parents, one way or another, at some time in our lives. And, pure energy never stops - but it sounds to me like you know that already. My respects and condolences to you...

Jeff,
my heartfelt condolences go out to you. Having lost my mother a year and half ago, there is a void which can never be filled.

Your father was an amazing man with all his accolades and accomplishments. It isn't hard to see that the apple dosen't fall far from the tree. Beautiful and heartfelt eulogy.

Remember what he did to make you smile and laugh, and hopefully that will help you pull through the tough times.

we are all here for you,
Dave Brosky

My sympathies Jeff. I went through this with my father around 1992 and then again with my mom in 2002.
