Workshop review

The Chapman Stick® workshop and concert this past October 16, 2010, in Knoxville, Tennessee was a great success by my measure. I think our teaching studios at Allied Music Instructors proved to be a great facility for the workshop.To the best of my knowledge all in attendance were pleased with the event and some lucky folks in Knoxville were treated to fine performances from workshop instructors Greg Howard & David Parr.

Some of our participants had little or no previous experience with the Chapman Stick. This event provided them with a great opportunity to get exposure to the Stick® and fundamental technique. The rest of us worked on expanding our horizons as Stickists. Greg & David divided their time working with the group and private sessions which proved to be an effective plan for the workshop.

The concert at The French Market Crêperie was well received. The sidewalk cafe atmosphere gave many people a chance to experience, for the first time, pleasing sounds of David Parr's song arrangements and Greg Howard's intricate and inventive performances. Allen Tate, owner of the French Market, expressed interest in promoting future Stick® performances at their venue.

I wish thank all who participated, it would not have been possible without you. I was very happy to act as host for this event, and I hope to host other Chapman Stick events in the future.
