Playing an Andrew York piece
Hi, all. I've been trying to make a video of this piece I've been learning by Andrew York. I had some time today so I made a big effort. Things didn't go too well. On the first take that was decent, the audio recorder ran out of space before the end. I'm using the only HD video recorder I have, which is my iPhone. One time I was getting a good take and my sister called me on my phone. After switching to Airplane Mode and running out of time, I finally thought I got a good take. However, the video was not in focus. An iPhone doesn't change its focus once it starts recording. I must have had something in view, like my elbow, when I started recording and it came out blurry. Well, I was completely out of time at this point and I really wanted to get some feedback on this piece. So, I went with the blurry video and gave it an old time look that's black and white with an oval vignette. Best I could do on this day. Anyway, I'd love to hear any feedback. This is my first video on my SG12 that I got in May. Andrew York's classical guitar compositions seem to work really well on the SG. I have another piece of his that's getting smoother and I'll record it on another day. Oh, that little weird double ending is not on the video that I uploaded. I wonder what happened with that? Maybe I'll re-upload it when I get the chance. I just don't want to now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIGpkIw8M-0-Eric

Bravo, Eric. Very nice. Now onto Chan's Song Send me a note for a connect time. I must say - very nice - again. You have all of the moves down for that piece. Sean Stirling

Eric, this is excellent. I love the piece and might try and learn it myself. What tuning do you use?

Beautiful piece, beautifully played, Eric.
I think Andrew's music suits The Stick really well. I was working with Jeff on a piece down in Knoxville (can't remember the name of it, Jeff).
It's nice the way your can divide up the guitar part into both hands.
Next time get a little closer to the camera for the big full-screen HD blowup!

I enjoyed that a lot. Thanks for posting. What kind of pickup do you have on your SG-12? I couldn't quite tell from the video.

-mike Thanks, Mike. My pickup is a Stickup. In fact, it's this one: http://stick.com/instruments/hotshots/rosewood_SG12gold/rosewood_SG12_angletail.jpg

Inspirational Eric. York is a hero of mine, he writes such attractive music. I think it translates well to the Stick. Thank you so much for posting. I listened 4x in a row. I like the fuzzy focus/B&W video, it seems to suite the piece. greg wrote: Beautiful piece, beautifully played, Eric.

Next time get a little closer to the camera for the big full-screen HD blowup! The piece I was(am) working on is called Chant, form the Guitar Suite entitled "8 Discernments." My plan is to eventually learn all eight. Now that Eric has thrown down the gauntlet, I guess I better get off my duff & get to practicing.
