Hi folks

As much fun as it is to practice on my own I would love to hear a real stickist play in person again. Does anyone know of a concert or other stick event in the Charlotte NC area? Any stick instructors nearby?

Hi Leo,

I don't know of any teachers in your area, but you can certainly do lessons online, and I try to organize workshops in conjunction with my local performances. "Only" a 5-hour drive away in Charlottesville. i also do lessons in-person locally in case you are ever passing through.

I've thought about doing the online skype lesson thing but it would mean a substantial investment in computer/audio/video gear that I would otherwise have little use for, and C-Ville is a bit far for me to drive as I'm actually about an hour on the other side of CLT. Still, both options are something I might consider in the future.

If any of you expert stickists decide to do a gig in the Charlotte area, do let us know

I just learned that webcam/mics can be had for as little as 30 bux, and the skype software is a free download. Is it really that easy? What am I missing?

All you need is a high-speed internet connection, and PayPal or a checking account for the lessons.

Skype works very well these days, and so does Google Video Chat.
