Cool - I am curious to know more about it. I anticipate I will drop $300 on finale rather than invest the time in getting up to speed on the *nix stuff as I am pressed for time.

If you haven't used Finale before you'll probably be spending almost as much time learning it as you would Lilypond. It is more common, though. But, man! I have a list of things I could spend $300 on! :)

Post Re: Staff Tab notation with GNU Lilypond
FWIW, I've successfully been using my stafftab engraver for the notation of the Stick parts of our upcoming EP. I'm using it for Alto Stick in Bob's extended tuning and the Grand Stick in MR tuning (custom tunings can be provided as well).

Using it is simple. You only have to
Code:
\include "stafftab.ly"
in your sources and use "StaffTab" instead of "Staff" inside of a "PianoStaff". Assigning string and fingering information is done the usual way in Lilypond.

The scores for our songs are published here: http://git.elephly.net/music/pretentious.git
A copy of stafftab.ly and stafftab-engraver.scm is included.

Attached is a snippet from a rendered PDF.

Hi,
Since this thread is a bit old, it isn't too surprising that many of the links are dead. Can anyone confirm whether Staff Tab support was merged into lilypond? If it wasn't merged, can anyone point me at valid links for downloading?

Thanks.

Russ

Hi russs,

unfortunately, it hasn't been merged into Lilypond proper, because someone somewhere dropped the ball. It may very well have been me.

The git repository containing the stafftab implementation still exists, but I've been having some minor problems with my server, so git.elephly.net currently does not respond. In the meantime you can fetch the engraver here:

https://elephly.net/downies/stafftab-engraver.scm

Let me know if you need anything else. I'll try to fix the server problems in the next few days.

~~ Ricardo

Thanks for the quick response, Ricardo.

I am pretty new to lilypond, but I will download the engraver and take a look.

The git repository is back online:

https://git.elephly.net/?p=music/pretentious.git;a=tree

There you can see a real-world example of how this engraver is used in the context of a complex Lilypond score.

Hope this helps!
