Post Re: Greg's new Instructional DVD
The first master I sent had some issues but a replacement passed muster. I had no idea how much went onto making a DVD when I started this (entirely DIY) project.

I expect to have them in hand on the 20th. SE should have some by the 22nd, and amazon a little after that.

I'll post ordering info here next week.

Thanks again for all the enthusiasm!

Hi Denis,

The movement principles and the basic technique strategies in the lessons will apply to any tuning, with the exception of chord shapes in 4ths bass tunings.

For 10 or 12 string DBR, depending on what your low bass note is, you will have to move things up or down one or two frets, but it is still quite do-able. If you have a low B, then you will need to play all the bass 5ths stuff one fret higher, and all the 4ths (melody) lesson will be an octave lower when you play them, but the movement concepts are the same.

For MR players, like always, just add 2 tot the melody fret numbers. You won't have to move things around from string to string.

I'm planning some follow-up resources to go with it (haven't decided on a format yet, book or pdf), that will expand on the concepts in the video with series of exercises. If there's enough demand for it from mirrored 4ths players, and even SB8 4hs tunings, then I should be able do make versions of the follow-up material that work for them as well.

Thanks for the interest.

So, it looks like it'll be around Dec 20 when I get these.

I'll see if I can't come up with some way to get advance orders setup and packages ready for quick shipping for the holidays if needed.

Sorry it's taking as long as it is.

No worries Greg. We all know that a project like this takes a great deal of time and hard work, and that it will certainly be worth the wait when it's finally ready. Good art cannot be rushed.

Ok, now that I've got that "patience is a virtue" crap outta the way, plesa put my name at the top of the list to receive my copy as soon as the first batch is ready :P

An update. The replication is all done and they are on the way to me.

I will watch one all the way through before shipping any out just to make sure there are no issues (not that I expect any).

I'm working on a trailer for it now.

The price will be $30 plus shipping from SE and from me direct, and it will also be available from amazon.

I started working on this project eight years ago. I can't believe it's finally done. All I can say is I'm glad it took as long as it did, because the material is much better than it would have been five or six years ago.

Thanks to all of you who have given me such effective feedback on my approach to teaching Free Hands over the years. This is an amazing way of making music, and my take is just one among many, but I've tried to make it as comprehensive and consistent as possible.

Stay tuned....

Hi Everyone,

I just finished going through one of the pressed DVDs to make sure they were okay, and I'm happy to say the DVD is now available. Discmakers is a great company to deal with.

I'm sending some to SE today, so they'll have them in a couple of days.

Here's a link to the ordering page for it on my website:

I'm still trying to find time to wrap up the video trailer...

Thanks again for all the interest!

Merry Christmas to me! If I'm not the first, I am among the first to order. Looking forward to checking it out.

I placed my order 30 mins before your post ;)
I'm eager to see the DVD; I really like the way to present the info (split screen + camera angles, etc) that Greg used in his last videos.

Cheers, Daniel.
