Incredible, so much smoothness, groove and silence as part of the overall music. Can't wait to hear playing live in Toulon. I hope I will be able to videotape some extrats to share them with you. Thanks Olivier!!!

That's really great! His Stick playing, sound, and performance are all wonderful. I hope we can see more of him.

Amazing blending of instrumental expertise, vocal skill, and just plain artistic gift.

The real acid test is the absolute quiet that the club patrons give during his performance.

(my You Tube moniker is bloozintro...this is the same comment I put under the vid)

fyi: this is a John Martyn tune (Jim has been performing with him for a decade or so).

I think this now my fav example of stick playing. Simple, effective, no need to cram in lots of notes, makes good use of the range of the instrument, and plays it with a lot of feeling and soul. I think I've finally found a player to aspire too!

I think the biggest credit I can give to Lampi is that (a) I'm a tapper, and interesed in sticks and tunes featuring sticks and (b) I'm a big John Martyn fan and never noticed there was a chapman stick playing - ever. I just heard good music! That's quite an achievement and usually you can hear a stick a mile off.

Could some John Martyn fans share with us a song list that has Jim on them?

Thanks,

I may be wrong, but I think Jim never recorded some studio album with Martyn, but only did some tours... I'll ask him when he comes to Toulon ;)
