Post Recordings of your first performance?
Does anyone here have recordings of their first performance? I actually found some. They can be heard here. I hope I've come some ways since then.

Hi Peter,

My first performance was jamming with two friends who played guitar and sang. It was in a hotel lounge (the Best Western Cavalier Inn in Charlottesville, Virginia, April, 1985) about two months after I got the instrument. If I were to have asked them, I think they would have preferred that I waited a bit longer... Mercifully, no recordings were made.

The first band I was ever in with Stick, Sombre Reptiles (after the Eno song) was with one of those same guitarists, so I guess I got better fast enough. There are recordings of that band that haven't been burned, yet......

The first solo gig I ever did "as a professional player" was at the Garden Gourmet Restaurant, a vegetarian joint run by a very cool guy who wanted only unusual live music. I still have the tip basket I bought for the gig.

My first live performance:

After the set was done I then ran to the bar for an Arrogant Bastard Ale!

Ironically my two next gigs were disasters compared to this.... the vibe at the Gravity Lounge and maybe being around other Stick players allowed me to relax a little more.
