Post Greg Howard Quartet - Saturday in Charlotesville
Looking forward to playing with my old friend Darrell Rose, and two young up-and-comers, Ben Jensen and Garen Dorsey:

Greg,
Have a great gig! Nice to see you back with Darrell Rose an amazing performer in his own right, and very complimentary ( "after you", "no...after you" -Chip & Dale) to your playing.

One of the coolest moves i have ever seen a percussionist do was at the Gravity Lounge [where you and I did a show together], and Darrell was "juggling" soft cloth square sack shakers in a figure 8 pattern and keeping time all the while! He never missed a beat, and kept pulling out more rare percussive instruments from a cornucopia persian looking cloth satchel. Just intuitive and phenomenal.

"Handiwork" still holds solid to this day- the live video you both did at Miller's. Populous check this out. I saw it come up on Ebay recently!

Great line up with some great music ahead for C'Ville. They are in for some true sonic treats!
all the best,
Dave Brosky

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. This will be an interesting gig, as we expect a full house, in part made up of over 30 young African leaders from the Young African Leadership Initiative will be in the house.

I was invited to present something uniquely American to this group for their visit in Charlottesville, so the combination of jazz, a new American instrument, and traditional African drumming seemed like the perfect choice.

Had a great rehearsal with the drummer last night. Ben is a monster, though a very tasteful one.

Looking forward to it.
