Re: PNW Stick Instruction
Steve, Congratulations on getting a teaching gig at a music store! Very Rewarding for your students and a stabilization factor for a standard teaching routine. Plus hopefully the store will be a feeding farm for students for you. "Why, yes we do have a teacher that you'd like, Steve teaches that exact way...." Bingo! Now, remember don't spend all your teaching money on gear in the store like..... errr... someone... I used to know! Glad to see you are doing well. All the best, Dave B

Re: PNW Stick Instruction
Don't forget my personal favorite when I used to do that in Vegas, "But I don't want to learn technique, theory or how to read music, I just want to give you this CD of Death Metal and have you learn all the songs and then teach me how to play them or I'm outta here."

Re: PNW Stick Instruction
Tatsu, I remember that all to well from when I taught bass. After deciding to grin and bear it I would tell the student the notes to the part. After getting a blank look I realized they didn't know where the notes were on the neck. I'd tell them where the notes were, but they didn't have any idea about fingering ... so we would go over fingering.
Those students never lasted long. It may have been my fault, but I'll gladly take the blame if it was.

Hi RW,
I don't think there's an guitar, bass or drum teacher alive who hasn't had our experience.
