Stick Exhibitions in France, we need some help from you!!!
Hi all For one year, I'm working on a nice project here. I'm writing and setting up an exhibition on the Chapman Stick. This exhibition will be featured in March 2009 in Savigny sur Orge, a little town not so far from Paris. During a month, there will be some events around the Stick, that Andre Pelat and I are organizing, together with the arts office of the mayor. There'll be a conference that I will introduce with André, a concert with the Andre Pelat trio (check out his violonist, Cécile Broché on Myspace, she's an oustanding musician), an exhibition that will last three weeks and some pedagogic interventions to children in many classrooms of the same town with Andre. Quite a busy month for him! But we do need some help!!! In order to complete the exhibition that I plan to send to the print factory in december, I'm looking for some very nice pictures of sticks and Stick players in hi-res only that could be reprinted on some large plates, and the authorization of the owners of the picture to let us print and use them. Obviously, both photographers and players will be credited under each pic. Finally, I hope we'll be able to let this exhibition have his "own life" and let it travel across the country when a Stick player do an "important" show, as a special bonus to its gig. Feel free to send me some low res pictures on my mail, I'll let you know if I could be interested by the hi-res one Thanks to all of you! Bruno

Re: Stick Exhibitions in France, we need some help from you!!!
Hi all The plates have just been completed this week and have been sent to the printer yesterday. The exhibition will begin around the 5th of March, and will last three weeks. It's been a very hard work for me, you can be sure : I should have been helped by my brother who is a graphic designer, but he coulnd'nt make it for health problems. So I had to put everything up alone... The plates are for sure less beautiful than expected if my brother had been involved , but it's OK , the results are still nice and clean. I would like to thank every body involved (I didn't talk directly to some, but they've been involved as far as authorization to publish some photos pictured them was concerned). I may forget some but here we go : Greg Howard, Bob Culbertson, Tom Griesgraber, Glenn Poorman, Larry Tuttle, Sean Stirling, Marc Mennigman, Don Schiff, Heiko Hoepfinger, Steve Osburn, Youenn Landreau, the guys from the AFSTG (some have already read the plates and gave me some advices). I would like to give an extra special thanks to Emmett Chapman, who was very receptive since the very beginning of the project, and Steve Balogh and Francesco Puddu who sent me some beautiful photos (I had an extensive use of them). Sorry again for the ones I may have forgotten, and to the guys I intend to use photos, but for some reason I couldn't use them. I'll try to put the plates on the AFSTG website a bit later, so you can check it out. Thanks again guys, Stick players really rock, I'm very proud to be part of this community. Bruno

Re: Stick Exhibitions in France, we need some help from you!
I'm currently working on a new version of the exhibition, more pleasant to go through and more "aesthetic" (luckily, a graphic design school has offered me to work on it for free). I'm preparing some conference about the Stick I may have to do along the exhibition. The idea is, obviously, to blend spoken parts and music. I'd like to feature some very different kind of music with the Stick. But if I can fake some jazz or blues tunes, I've no idea if I want to fake some classical and world music tunes. Can you guys suggest me some tunes easy to learn?

Once the new plates are done (around march 2013 I think), I'll look for some place to welcome the exhibition and possibly a conference/showcase. I'll let you know But the older version of the exhibition was a nice success, from what I've been said...

Hello grozoeil...
You're doing well man. I really like these pics. And as you know (because I visit your forum in french) that would be a real pleasure for me to go in France at least once to visit all of you guys...many I know only by the net. Good luck for your expo. I can see you have a real friendship relation over there...I'm quite alone here in Montreal...don't really know who plays that stick and were I can meet other players...
Happy New Year...
