Post New Video - Sunday in Salt Spring
Hi all,

I just posted a new video on YouTube. The tune is "Sunday in Salt Spring" from my recent 121normal release. It was recorded last August at the Firefly Club in Ann Arbor during the 2007 Midwest Stick Seminar. A big thanks to Greg Howard for processing the audio, the video and putting it all together.

Another one of my favorite 121 Normal songs! I'm a little bit off the right of the camera!

Thanks. I have the effects send/return of my line mixer running through a pair of Gibson Echoplex units.

Glenn: Do you have 2 Echoplexes so you can have one loop (ie the repeated E note) repeat throughout the whole song and you can stop all the other loops? Upon messing with my RC20, I've found that there's time where I want to stop all loops except for the "drum beats" (that I'm looping on Stick) but I don't know if there's a way on my unit.

Nope. The Echoplex is a mono unit (which is a drag) and so I use two in order to capture the stereo field. They are synced so that one set of controls drives both. What actually gets captured in the loop depends on the how the sends are set on each channel of my line mixer. So depending on the tune, I can elect to loop (or not to loop) melody Stick, bass Stick, synth output or drum machine. Generally I don't loop any output from the drum machine. Instead I program songs or patterns and then use MIDI to sync the drum machine up with the looper.

The EDP has a lot of flexibility as far as being able to develop multiple loops and switch between them. This particular tune utilizes two loops and the repeating E is just a commonality between them.

Hi Glenn,

Beautiful music, and it's so nice to hear someone using loops to create compositions like this. More!

Cheers,
Andy
