I remember Emmett teaching me this chord on piano when I was, like twelve or thirteen, before The Stick or Stick Enterprises was a twinkle in his eye. He was heavy into Eric Dolphy at the time.

Then later, when I was eighteen, I returned the favor by giving him my new "Fresh Cream" album, when I decided I wanted to join a monastery (a whole different story). :roll:

Notice how the album starts with the E7#9th chord of "I Feel Free."

Born to be wild...Steppenwolf...the organ player is also using this chord. It was so "modern" in these years to play this E7#9.

Chicago, I'm a man, is another example. Blood Sweat and Tears also used this chord and many others as nice as this one.
