Huge thumbs up Manny, this part of running a forum is the thankless part, but we are all thanking you once again! I belonged to a music forum for the zendrum that was essentially turned useless due to spammers, and it never came back to its former self.

It is a reference to a Monty Python sketch:

i grew up w/ Spam, and porkroll, (im from jersey) and HEADCHEESE. (im Hungarian and Pollish). Monty Python was on PBS (ch.13) Sunday night when i was in highschool and we were doing the Silly Walk on Monday. but i still wanna know why Spam (what we are referring to) and the meat product have in common. (i could Google it but it's not as much fun). i like Spam. once in a while, w/ the right stuff, brings me back to a easier, softer way. but i find Spam as we are referring to a gross product of the internet. IZATIT?

Yes, I'd like to know that too. But my guess is that because the meat product Spam existed first, the unnecessary mail notes were called the same name just because it simply was equally annoying and unpopular.

Post Re: A Periodic Reminder About Spam
"IZATIT?" ZATSIT! Spam was ever present during and after WWII. Basic foods were rationed. My brothers and I hated the stuff, that and "Glutenberger". Of course my grade school lunch bag always had Spam sandwiches with Mayonnaise. Couldn't trade my sandwiches either. (I remember unobtainable diced egg sandwiches with chopped olives.) When I got hungry enough, I'd eat my Spam.

Weeds in the garden - that's the connection between Internet exploitations and that amalgamated pork product. Yeah, I used to have to pick weeds a lot too. Hated that job.

IZALRITE, Emmett.
