Post Site to be migrated soon - terrible webhost performance
The site's webhost, Ipower.com, continues to provide slow MySQL performances, inconsistent tech support and overall subpar services.

I'm currently looking for a new webhost and researching user reviews on the web. Any recommendations are welcomed, particularly your experience with a webhost's MySQL performance.

Thanks for your patience as this site performance issue gets resolved. I'll let you know when the site migration occurs.

Hi Manny,

Thanks again for all you do to keep this thing alive and well, and with continually expanding features. Looking forward to the migration, as I'm sure you are as well.

Thanks Greg and all for your support.

After lots of research and reading user review sites, like http://www.webhostingreviews.com/, I've started up an account with Hostgator.com...signed up for 1-month to check it all out.

So far, the new webhost seems really snappy/fast.

I'm setting up a mirror of this site and starting to work out the glitches with all the customizations, and will be migrating the database over and work out all those issues. Once the mirror site is robust and fully working properly, I'll shut down this site, migrate the most current version of the database and change the DNS for the Stickist.com domain name. When it propagates, the new site will be accessible and fully migrated. I'll then up my new webhost account to a yearly+ account.

At least that's how I think it will work out

After 4 reinstalls on the mirror site and strong-arming the MySQL database, got a lot working already. Man, I hate Ipower.com and their faulty database management UI. It was corrupting my database downloads. Fortunately I was able to bypass their UI and use phpmyadmin and manually export the tables and content of the database, and import them into the mirror site.

Overall, the mirror site is running much faster. Still working out the bugs, but its looking promising. I might even complete a migration by this weekend...now I've done it, gave myself a timeline....thought I was going to work on this over the next few weeks...but you know how this goes, once you start rolling, you don't want to lose the train of thought...my notes look like hell and I don't think I can even decipher them after tonights work.

Anyways, hitting the sack and letting FTP upload about 9,000 files. We'll see what I've got in the morning. :o

Good luck, Manny, we're all "rooting" for you, although, down-under, that term means something quite different. :p

Ugh, got lost in the modifications...starting all over again with a 5th reinstall...want the clean codes!

So...what does "rooting" mean in Australia?

Well I don't know in Australia but I understand it as gaining root privileges (in an non kosher way).

Daniel.
