how does bumping work
Okay, so I just saw a post I made several days ago "bumped" by someone else, in this case Walter. Not that i object, but...how does this work? Strange.

Re: how does bumping work
I "bumped" the post, hoping to delete the post.
The post was rather old and forlorn and I was fooling around in hopes of "bumping" the whole thing off the forum.
Is there some malice attached to bumping? If so, I certainly didn't mean it to be.
After I've posted an announcement about songs (or whatever) and it gets little or no activity, it seems only natural to do a little house cleaning and deleting the outdated post. I tried to "bump it off". LOL

Re: how does bumping work
It just means "I have nothing to say but want to make sure this old content appears at the top of the forum's discussion thread list." With most forum software , every time you add a post (even a useless one, which is something the bumper is usually admitting to) it moves to the top.
It's not supposed to represent violence. Don't panic, Greg!

I tried to "bump it off". LOL First off...No worries...It's just me being a little thick in the head. My question is what did you do in order to "bump" my post? I didn't write my post on the date that it shows (yesterday), I wrote it a couple of weeks ago, so I'm just curious how it ended up being posted with that date. Is there something in the forum controls I'm missing? How does one bump?

Every time you add a post, the time stamp on the thread gets updated.

Re: how does bumping work
Wasn't there an R&B tune in the 70s entitled "Don't do the Bump with no Big Legged Woman"?
Joe Tex?
