Post Registration Temporarily Disabled
There's been an onslaught of new user registrations by spammers. Those accounts have been deleted, along with any posts. New user registration is now temporarily disabled.

Manny, many thanks for all you do in keeping this wonderful forum up and running… You must find it frustrating dealing with these Bastardo Spammers…. I @#$%ing hate that crap! if it gets must worse perhaps there could be some kind of sign in to prevent this stuff? I am not very techie so I really do not know. at any rate, many thanks!

Thanks, but no worries. I figure I'd shut down registration for a short time, then open it back up though confirmation would be via my approval, then after a short while, put it back to user confirmation.

Every now and then have to sabotage. ;)
Netherlands, 15th century, when the textile workers would throw their sabots into the machinery and clog up the works.

I am a member of two forums which require administrator approval, and it was not really an issue.

Thanks for keeping up the good fight, Manny. I should probably donate again, but I have just developed a cunning plan (more info to follow in a relevant thread).

Post Re: Registration Temporarily Disabled
I've temporarily disabled registration in case it was being hit with a spambot. Though it looked like it was humans, mainly from Russia, Philippines, and Ukraines. I've IP blocked various blocks of IPs from Russia and Philippines, but not Ukraine since there are a couple of users here from there.

Just gotta take out the trash a little more often lately ...

I know how much of a pain it is to have to manually approve all registrations. Unfortunately, there isn't a programmatic scheme available that is not crackable.

Thanks for the extra, extra work, Manny.

You'll know when you hear it.

Do we need to be afraid...?
Which is worse, a cunning plan, or a punning clan?
