Presenting my first unboxing video, recorded with the assistance of my 10-year old son, Xavier. I had plans for a better-produced video, and ended up using just the video from the main camera and not my son's camera feed at all. It was hard enough for me to wait to open things and just to shoot this video. We had a couple of hilarious interruptions that I kept in the video to cheaply prolong the suspense and drama.

I skipped the glow-in-the-dark dots demonstration, as it is not bright enough to see anything but the dots glowing all by themselves. Honestly, the linears would have been better than the dots, but I would have had to pick seafoam green and not blue. Decisions made and lived with: I'm very happy with the dark blue! I recorded against a green screen, just because it's in the studio. Please insert your own underwater or space backgrounds (I don't know what background I would have put in here--maybe a factory?). Not my best-produced video and nowhere near the caliber of jazzb8ven's great unboxing video, but it was fun to make! Cheers!

The Unboxening.. Is that like The "Quickening" ?

I love that discombobulated mild confusion as the joy settles over you Steven. Goodbye...... see you in a couple of days, when you emerge from the Sticky man cave.

Stephen- congratulations on an instrument with no boundaries! Thank you for making "the holder"- I hope it helps you enjoy playing and enables you to reach all your dreams!
I wish you all the best on your journey!

I made 3 DBro holders. On the last 2, I ended up glueing mine and skipping the screws altogether, since the wood glue is stronger than the wood itself, and I was lazy. I gel-stained them and then covered them with a layer of spar urethane--I recommend the stuff in the spray can but I used the brush on as well. Everyone thinks they were made professionally, until they look closely at the wood glue patching up holes where I was careless with the saw. Good design and many thanks! Oh, and the most important part: with the holder, the Railboard pose between the legs and seating strikes everyone as very "cello-like," which makes it seem even cooler. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9532

Dear Steve,

loved your video. Could not stop laughing when you kept getting interrupted when trying to open your new pride and joy! Then Xavier starting tapping the Railboard before you had even touched it, and I wondered if he was going to survive that mistake. Superb self-control, amazing fun to watch.

Thanks so much for sharing.

I'm glad you liked it. Watching the video, I hoped I didn't come off as cross with him---I really wasn't! He was trying to be dad's little helper, although it turned out that he was in the way because he was getting a better view with the iphone, which I ended up not using. "Xavier touched the Precioussss before me!" is how I sounded. HA! I'm not really jealous and Xavier couldn't possibly hurt that brick sapphire out-house if he tried and I welcome his interest in it! But Papa wanted to touch first! (Strokes the Railboard again...)

If I had spent a little more time on the video, I would have worked in his close-ups and point of view. But jazzb8vn's unboxing video was so awesome, I decided that I would take Rodrigo's advice to heart:

Apart from the stick, that's something we all want to see - the drooling. :) beats kitten videos on Facebook and there's nothing better than relive all the excitement... We'll all be right there with you, as if it was our own. :)

I figured I had plenty to offer in that department: the best part of Christmas for an adult is seeing the little ones enthusiastically tear into that G.I. Joe with the kung-fu grip or the new bicycle. Or the new Stick! Love your plum color! It's my new second favorite after the blue and possibly the maroon. Cheers!
