Tim's Vermeer
Any painters out there?......or folks who wish they could paint?
Just watched prolly one of the most amazing docs on Netflix about inventor, Tim Jenison, who sets out to prove that Johannes Vermeer used lenses and other optics to produce photorealistic paintings back in the 17th century. Vermeer's use of tech allowed him to paint like no other painter in his time.
Jenison, who has never painted before, sets out to reproduce one of Vermeers masterpieces with painstaking accuracy......his results left me awestruck.
Please watch this amazing doc "Tims Vermeer". You'll be amazed at how both men are geniuses, Vermeer for using the tech, and Jenison for figuring out how it was done...
cheers, kev

Kev-C, Great post! Great Minds think alike or at least twisted ones do! Very cool you would bring up Vermeer, because I wrote an inspirational post awhile back about him and Blondin about who YOU, the reader, really are. http://www.stickist.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4211&p=28603&hilit=+blondin+vermeer#p28603Dave B "DBro"

Cool Dave. I remember that post but wasn't familiar with Vermeer then. Have you watched the doc? He took camera obscura to the next level, some call it cheating, I would call it progress....
cheers, k

Dave . . . That's a GREAT performance post you refer to! I just read the whole thing and it was well worth the time. I even bookmarked it so I could refer back. Thanks!
Kev-c, I tried to get that on Netflix but it's not available for streaming, only on DVD, which service I do not have with Netflix... sad... I'll have wait and see if it eventually goes to streaming.

Re: Tim's Vermeer
I watched the doc. I feel the urge to paint now. I need one of those mirror stands. I found it interesting that Penn Jillette , a guy who uses mirrors in his craft was fascinated by another guy who also used a mirror in a different way. Great doc.
