I recently found out a new friend of mine is gay, a socialist and an outspoken activist. A super-cool guy. I saw him sitting in front of a local coffeehouse a few weeks ago and, noticing his red shoes and immaculate choice of clothing, I took a seat with him and engaged him in conversation.

Kev

bullshit. I didn't meet you at a coffee house. typical KRex subterfuge. we met in a BATH house. Not a coffee house.

Sheesh K...
I didnt do any back reasearch on the subject, just took the doc at face value. Seems I may have duped. Funny how media can be kinda like a virus.

Still a sad story, but maybe not as sad as I originally thought. Perhaps this poor cat helped in making his own bed, albiet...no one deserves to die like this, unless one is a child molester or animal cruelty type, then all bets are off in my eyes.

Oh, and Randy.......Gimme my damn red shoes back please, yer stretching them out with yer size 12's...eheh

cheers,
K-fed

Heh. They don't call him Randy for nothin'. But Kev, he's a size 10 at best, don't let the old codger fool ya'. I cherish my rubber ducky as a keepsake of the hallowed halls of the Texas bath houses. Thanks for the suds, Austin! Good times!

I hereby await the feeling of inertia, anticipating being tossed into the Lounge... and for good reason...

But seriously, I hear you, Kev. It is a serious matter in all respects, and the boy's murder was particularly brutal and heinous. Those responsible are exactly as you described them, minus the homophobia. I think, however, this story is more a lesson about US drug policy than the homophobia of privileged white males. The former has numbers which illustrate the destruction wrought by US drug policy. The latter has only biased invective, used to manipulate good people into "taking action."

My friend is a good guy, has a great and lively sense of humor, bordering on an extreme sense of humor. We began our relationship with essentially self-deprecating acknowledgements of how deeply flawed gay and straight people are. I think this is a really healthy thing for people to do. Gay people are super fucked-up, no more or less than straight folks. They are no less prone to addiction, hate and even murder than any other schmuck in this wicked world.

I hope we can all reach out to each other in the spirit of this understanding, and truly make a better world, not based on lies, coercion and legislative subterfuge, but on real tolerance and acceptance.

K Rex
