I'll absolutely accept inanimate objects, concepts, and musical equipment as your musical roots and influences. There's no test and the only wrong answer is the one you don't really mean! :geek:

But how low are these notes we're talking? Like pipe organ subharmonic low that gives people the willies, or the deep lovely sounds of a doublebass or the rumble of a volcano before it destroys Pompeii (sorry, too much Doctor Who)..what does low notes mean for you? :)

one of my first bass gigs i did the wahwah solo to "Bassically" from "Black Sabbath" and the "The Fish". a girl came up to me afterward and said, "Wasn't that a bit expanding?" i said, "What do you mean?" She replied, "I thought i had to go to the bathroom." i replied, "Cool." to this day i don't know if it was compliment or critcism, but if can make your bowels move i must be on to something

Nope. Can't do it.

Rush, The Flying Luttenbachers, ELP, Crimson, Watchtower, Jethro Tull, Cervello, Confessor, Thinking Plague, 5uu's, Breadwinner, Arti y Mestieri, Picchio dal Pozzo, Area, Tipographica, Happy the Man, Yes, Yezda Urfa, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Tera Melos, Loincloth, PFM, Celtic Frost, Zappa, Genesis, Behold the Arctopus, Buzzard, Return to Forever, Weather Report, Ralph Towner, Mahavishnu, Zepplin, Sabbath, DEVO, Farquhar, Extra Life, Zs, Time of Orchids....

Holy shit, I could type a hundred more and they would all be totally influential and I couldn't do without a single one if I were stranded on an island.

No man is an island (and all of Kevin's wouldn't fit on that island with him!)

So of that list, I recognized about 9 (being honest) but they were some of my very favorite bands! So now I'm wondering what else I'm missing in the rest of that list! Sweet! (Recounting, I got to 12) :ugeek:

Hmmm...
Bach is the easy one - on top! way, way, way above all music before and since
#2 I would choose world music, but the real traditional kind, from a few places, starting with my homeland - Portugal
# 3 - I had a teen fascination that will forever endure: dire straits ;) come to think of it, that's one of the other reason bob's sound was so appealing the first time I saw his video...
Cheers

Bob and Mark Knopfler...interesting, I can totally see that now (not going to mention that I never got over MY teen fascination with Dire Straits...)

Part of me was hoping by posting this that I could find out Rodrigo's #'s 2 and 3 (we all know that he would say Bach for #1), and I was not disappointed! 8-)

All this talk of influences is nice and everything, but we have to realize that at the end of the day, the Luttenbachers destroy us all.

I'm sorry, it has to be this way.
