Post Re: Ball bearings and Plywood=Music
Kevin, I saw this on Facebook and thought this was absolutely amazing! The marbles coming down and falling on Xylophone slats are pretty easy to understand. Even the pegs on the wheel that turn and work like a music box works are easy enough to get. But how in the hell is he making the bass guitar play? I see him reaching over manually to the bass guitar but I can't tell what he's doing to it. I also thought there might be some samples that are being triggered by marbles, rather than just the sound of marbles hitting them. But some are indeed the sounds of marbles hitting high hats and splashes. But still! Amazing but wondering about that bass guitar.

The balls are coming down and hitting the bass strings by the pickups and hes fretting the notes. Sometimes the balls will fall on open strings without him fretting though.

cheers,
kev

Okay, Kev, with your help, I caught it clearly at about 1:06. That's really cool! Ball bearing bass tapping, I shall call it.
