Glenn, good point--we don't know all the many issues he could have been wrestling with.

Exactly. If I ever get so where I can't physically "play" any of my instruments, I can still type with a pencil in my mouth and still compose through MIDI and samples and still write sheet music for others to play. And teach!

If Stephen Hawking can explore black holes and quantum physics with a pencil in his mouth, I think I could rock it out.

But it is easy to distill everything down into the "he had nerve damage" excuse/explanation--because we try to make sense out of the senseless. That's probably a vast oversimplification but still no less tragic for whatever the complicated reasons. :(

God rest Keith Emerson- tune out the media spin on his death, and listen to all of his accomplishments, his legacy, his vision to take keyboard where it never was before it and make it listenable and most of all his ability to inspire players like our own Tim Longfellow to push themselves to a higher level of playing. That's what to remember for this mega talent.

So, imagine you're playing a Keith Emerson song at a pub, and the man himself walks in and just starts jamming with you. This was awesome! Both played just amazing Rondo!

The part where Keith plays Fugue and Toccata in D minor upside down casually is just so metal!

Rest in peace, Keith!

Here's a 12 and a half minute Rondo, with surprise walk-in by Keith right at 50 seconds, probably right when the acid started to kick in. :D
