My wife and I are big fans of The Jam, and Paul Weller in particular. Collectively, these guys were one of the best bands from late 70's early 80's in my opinion.
There's a new doc just released on Apple TV called About the Young Idea that we really enjoyed watching last night.
If you're a Jam fan, check it out....

Cheers,
David Watts

Weller is brilliant, and so is his ex-band. He had to move on, and I get that. Rock bands are a sum of their parts though. Sometimes those parts make for a wonderful noise that can't be re-captured when leaders go on their own path. Weller went on to form The Style Council, etc... which I love....I can think of a hundred bands that split, went on to do their own thing, but kind of paled in comparison to what the original spark that lit the fire turned out to be.

That being said.....The Jam will always hold a special place for me.....l frickin'luv that band...

Scott, explore some early Jam records...you won't be disappointed.

cheers,
kev
