But, I want to say that for the price Blender is as good as anything out there and it is evolving quickly! I mean, you can spend thousands onMaya and the Adobe Suite, but Blender and the Gimp and some spare time learning how to use it and you are set. Plus, Blender and Gimp are completely cross platform, all the way to Linux. I mean, a Solidworks licence is GROSSLY expensive...

I spent a small fortune on Maya Unlimited, plus training DVDs.
I now gravitate to programs that everyone can afford.

I use 'InkScape' for my vector based graphics.
I own a SummaCut D75R vinyl cutter.
http://inkscape.org/en/

I use 'GIMP' for raster based photo editing.
https://www.gimp.org/
I own a Canon Pro 100 for 13" X 19" amazing prints.

I use 'Blender' for my animation stuff. Very Cool...

I'm very lucky to have a great job that affords me both time and money.
I work five days, then five days off, as a regular schedule.
I also get FIVE (15-day) paid vacations per year.
Plus, I fly for the cost of lunch, and get a profit share check twice a year.

So, what's not to like? (12 hour graveyard shifts and fatigue.)
Life is always a trade-off. My time for your money...
I try to invest wisely. Two more years and I'm debt free.
While owning three properties and a ton of assets. 8-)

Blender and GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) are native to Linux: the GNOME (GNU Network Object Model Environment) desktop environment has always used the GTK (GIMP Tool Kit) widget set.

So? All I was saying is that it runs everywhere. Does it matter where it originated?

I was not criticizing you.

Both projects have achieved popular awareness, yet many people who use the software hold the belief that Linux cannot be depended upon because it is open source. This bothers me, hence I clarified the lineage in case someone reading the thread would benefit.

Ahh understood. Sorry, didn't mean to sound snippy. Don't let it bother you, Linus Torvalds wouldn't...
