Good Keith. I'm super familiar with Pat's music, even gave him a personal Stick lesson and jammed with him on guitar on a few tunes . Gilmore is super melodic. Santana Wes Montgomery Jeff Beck....check out Angel , Brush with The Blues, Day in the Life Django Reinhardt Pat Martino Van Halen Doc Watson BB King

Not known for his "lyricism", I've always found this solo of Fripp's to be very melodic.

I cannot believe nobody mentioned Eric Johnson...
That was awesome! I haven't thought about Eric Johnson in years, and I have absolutely no idea why! I love, love, love his style, and he is sooooo very much the melodic master. [Checks wikipedia to make sure he's not dead.]

Guitar Player magazine has called Johnson "one of the most respected guitarists on the planet".[3]
Whew! Still alive. Man, who else am I totally forgetting?
By the way, Pat Metheny! That's great stuff. And as Steve A mentioned, every single one of those guys, to doubly include BB King!

Beck of course! And Glenn came in with the Steve Hackett, which was damn good stuff. I gotta get caught up in reverse order. I keep getting distracted with all this good stuff. Mick Ronson! and then Ziggy Stardust has me back on a Bowie remembrance Youtube nostalgia tour.

I spent half of my teen years listening to Mark knopfler. Never showed in my music until the stick arrived
Rodrigo! I was THIS close to mentioning Mark Knopfler! I was gonna post Money For Nothing, and then got sidetracked. Awesome sing-along song, too! Good video! God, he's young here!

Yep, good times for me as a music listener, never again did I have the same kind of care free time to listen to music as when I was growing up. And the songs used to take their time too, slowly developing from one thing to the other, tell a story. That's what I really liked about Mark's playing, storytelling with a guitar. Really cool thread Steve
