lol I wanna clarify, I am in no way suggesting that anybody should do anything any way or the other in regards to technique -

Without a doubt, Steve! My LH too, is far and away stronger and more tactile than my RH - but there could be a few reasons for that! Position, physiology, etc etc

And yep, I too would like to make the best use all of my thumbs and fingers - but sometimes I catch myself wondering if one approach might be better than others in certain instances...

I would think your left hand is the well-developed left hand of a guitar player, whose right hand holds a pick 98% of the time. And my own pinkies' differing strengths comes from my usage and playing style.

There's a lot to be said for both powerful--and legato--finger movements. Fingers hold down notes to be strummed on a guitar (usually), whereas on Stick, the fingers selecting the notes also provide the energy for the note, much as on piano. A bowed instrument and player would also have correspondingly weaker right hands, I would think (or dominant hands, for the lefties.)

Still, I find myself using the left hand pinky less, and the right hand one rarely, except for certain songs that it makes ergonomic sense to use. Maybe I can get my thumbs out from behind and get them in the mix as well.

Okay-- I still owe you, Scott, a longer reply on why Interlochen was extremely awesome and well worth yours or anyone's time and attention.

Nahhhh playing guitar all the time couldn't help THAT much could it? lol Maybe it helps a little...
RH pinky wispiness is definitely a body mechanics thing of some sort... :D

I am thinking hard about the Interlochen event, although it is a ways away - I suppose that could be a contributor to time well sunk hahah Although, ironing out the kinks in this Bach Invention has proven to be kind of the biggest time sink yet, get one problem solved and two more reveal themselves heheh I guess it's a good thing that I like Bach!

If nothing else I suppose it could be a motivator to get my stuff together and practice a bunch...

I really have no excuse... I have the flexibility in my schedule, money's not an issue, I'm probably at a point where I might be able to actually learn something on the instrument... Sounds like a perfect storm...
