I was listening to the song "The Bag Man" on the ECM album "I have the room above her" by Paul Motian and thought. 'this is at it's core a pretty simple tune that would sound nice on the stick'. So I googled around a bit and found "Uncle Paul's Jazz Closet"

Which is a pretty neat site/ music podcast about Paul Motian. They have a couple volumes of his (sheet) music that you can purchase there. I also found the attached lead sheet somewhere ( forgot where now ) that i sharpied in some possible chords. It's a short melody that's still interesting, fun and fairly easy to learn. My humble quick one-off version is below ( with trademark hiccup ) is quite different from the album, but hey, it's jazz

I love that Motian album. I kind of discovered him in retrospect. I'm a huge fan of the young guitarist he had with him in later years, Jakob Bro.

Bro's last 4 albums are on ECM label as well and are just stellar.. I just recently picked up his latest 'Bay of Rainbows' - a live album from his trio's 2017 tour. They played in Winnipeg and I couldn't make it. Still kicking myself...

Thanks for the comment. I didn’t know Bro did some stuff with him. I will have to check that out. I like bay of rainbows quite a bit myself.

Bay of Rainbows is wonderful...just picked it up a couple of weeks ago. The other three ECM recordings are equally excellent.

There is a track on 'Streams' called "PM Dream", which is an ode to the late Motian.

Been listening to the Bro album. "Gefion" lately. I like it a lot.
I wonder if , when in the USA, Jakob gets distracted by the occasional "Hey Bro !" declared at random on the street.
